Default So now I have live TV and more for the Q..

I just downloaded a program called ORB from http://www.orb.com/. The requirement for live TV is that you have a compatible TV tuner on your home PC. They state they only support certain tuners but my works flawlessly. I have a ATI 9800 PRO AIW at home. I installed ORB and had access to live TV, videos, pictures, and even my web cam with sound (home brew home security system ) immediately from my Q. Of course you get a better streaming depending on your location and connection speeds. Even if you don't have a TV tuner, the web UI is not that bad to access pictures, videos, etc. You can also setup TV recording to your PC. So now I have NES games, ripped movies, and live TV.

Q rocks.

I was even thinking about finding a slingbox on Craigslist until I found this program. I guess sling box would be handy so you could access your DVR but is costs money, and its only TV. I found some new life in my All-In-Wonder card.

Default Orb

Yah, i've been using ORB for a while now and it works great for me too. But, does anyone know if there is a way to get divx files to play through it. It seems like it doesn't support streaming divx files.... Hmmm... I assume it just wasn't built to handle them. And is there a way to view my tv tuner through it? I have a connexant falcon II tuner that comes with an hp media center pc. anythoughts about sending it to my Q? It deffinately didn't "just work"

For Divx, you can try this: http://forums.orb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=30&

Your tuner tuner card should work with Orb. http://forums.orb.com/community/view...9e3f4fd23fefca

When you setup orb on your (XP is required) PC, you need to specify your service provider and how you have your coax plug into it (straight or set-top box). I have my cable going directly to me tuner card so I only get channels 1-99.

All the setup info is available on Orb and the forums are a great source of info.

There are other alternatives like Orb but I cannot remember the names and they usually cost to dl. There is always Slingbox which others on these boards are using. You may want to go to the ORB techncal discussions and search for sony vaio as some people are reporting certain sony vaio cards work with certain setups.

Default Orb vs Slinbox

I agree Orb is great if your PC is at home or at the office and turned on! With Slingbox it is not depeneded upon your Computer, so you can watch your TV anytime anywhere.

agreed. i hate leaving my PC on all the time. there is no need. slingbox is not expensive if you look at what you are getting. plus being able to stream saved shows and movies from my DVR is great.

This depepends on your definition of expensive. I already have a PC with a tuner. Therefore any additional expense if I can do it without the expense is expensive.

My PC does stay on all the time at home. Unfortunately, even looking into Orb's forums, I still cannot get it to stream my live TV. EVerything elso works though.
