Basically, you have to buy a SlingBox. That device gets hooked up to your home network and must be near your set top box. From there, you can watch and control your TV from ANY computer. Add the Windows Mobile SlingPlayer ($30 or so) and you can watch TV from your Moto Q. I had the original SlingBox and wasn't too happy with it. I recently picked up the SlingBox Pro and it's been great. The Pro also supports HDTV setups, but you need a SlingBox dongle (add $50). No choppiness or buffering issues. Works perfectly on my Q. I was dragged out yesterday to go shopping w/ my wife. While she was roaming Banana Republic, I was outside on my Q watching the Yankees game.
SlingBox Pro $225
Sling Box Dongle $50
Trial version of SlingBox Mobile $0
Watching a Yankees game while my wife is shopping $Priceless

BTW, I'm using it with an HR10-250 DirecTivo.

Extended battery would be a good idea if you invest in this setup.

sounds like a decent investment... is there a subscription for the app that runs on the q? anyone else like it/hate it?

No subscription.

I love it. You will too, as long as you have solid cell service in your area, and have a good high-bandwidth internet connection at home.

My main use for it is as an easy way to schedule recordings when out. I have my Tivo and my set top dvd burner set up for it. As for watching tv on it, only rarely will I actually sit and watch it.

What's different between the old and new ones? Other than increased resolution within the internal lan (external connection resolution is 320x240 regardless of model) that is.

I don't have HD so I use the original and I could not be happier (which can be found for pretty cheap, $119 here) It's also got IR & Tuner so it's like a combination of the newer AV & Tuner models which, to me anyway, makes it more valuable than either of those. But if you do have HD then the Pro is good for better around the house streaming should you need that (studio = me )

Slingbox plz

So if you dont have a HD TV, the Pro won't work with a regular TV? Is there a monthly cost to stream the video? I have unlimited data with Sprint.

Pro will work with regular TVs, its other attractive feature is you can hook up 4 different inputs.. but all I need is my DVR ;)

Same here. Is possible to pull up video on an external hard drive connected to a computer?
