ah okay ic. and is there anyway to get the aol IM service on the Q? i talked to a verizon rep. but he sounded like he didnt know what he was talking about. he told me i could get it by going to the internet explorer. kinda weird it isnt on the Q since its on most verizon phones.

There are several IM clients for the Q that include AIM. In addition to Slick, there are Palringo, Mundu IM, Octro, and bunch of others. They all use data. There is an old school way to IM using texts, but someone else will need to give you the rundown on that.

yup you are correct
OZ Messanger i think will only work on the Q9c (never heard anyone else try) but all other IM apps will work on any device

ok, i tried it, works on my q9h i only have 1 problem, well 2 that i can think of now. does anyone else get disconnected much? i used it for about... 45 mins and ive been disconnected about 2-3 times for about 5 minutes each. it doesnt seem very stable compared to palringo, but its defiantly a nicer upgrade when it comes to available options like actual buddy list and customizing sound volume and ect.

also, is there a way i can change the purple background? its a little fruity.. hahah

I noticed that the "Access Point" setting in the Configuration menu did not default to "Internet." Once I changed that setting, I had no problem connecting to gtalk.

didnt wanna start another thread on the same subject so...and i should probably call verizon up for this but id rather hear form here first.

my plan includes "instant messaging." im assuming this is the aol instant messaging service. so lets say i use aim through slick, or another app. such as IM+all-in-one messenger from SHAPE services GmbH, off of handango.com, will that work or theres just no hope for the old Q?

when i try to login i receive an error saying

auth failedsocket error host not found. error number 11001

any ideas?

so my aim has been really unstable, always disconnecting. i get these errors a lot. can anyone shed some light?? btw, i have a q9h could this be the problem??

Fail to log-in to Aim network. Error. Network is Down. Error number 10050
