I had an issue with my Comast.net accounts I went to the forum boards for Seven and found the answers I needed. The only time I see batteries issues is if I am not getting good singal strength.

I like the program for the fact I can get my HTML formatted email

Okay... I am going to sound dumb,but.... what are the advantages to a push email system like this - besides the instant email delivery to the phone - over gmail Imap that can be set to poll the mail server at chosen intervals?

How does the external email account *signal* the phone to download the email?

Push mail will send you Email as soon as it hits your server. There is no signal, it just sends it. this will save battery life. No need for your phone to check at different intervals.

Well.... considering that the 3G icon that appears during data transfer is now always there, doesnt that indicate a constant data connection to my gmail server? Isnt that gonna murder my battery life?

no that isnt true and the 3g symbol showing up is most likely that the network in you area is being changed not the software always being connected . the way it works is almost as if it forwards everymessage more or less a message sent to your email account shud appear almost instantaneously in both boxes.

There is a seperate indicator that represents what network I am in. It is a larger icon that is in the middle of the top bar on my homescreen and lets me know whether I am on 3g, edge or sometimes even G.
The icon I am referring to now is the small one that shows up above the signal strength bar whenever a data connection is made.

Also, when I kill all Seven related processes in task manager, the 3g icon no longer shows - until I make a data connection.
