Default Kill New Message Icon

Anyone know how to kill the new message icon that pops up on the Home Screen? In Settings, my Unread Message Alert is "OFF", but it keeps showing up. Maybe a registry hack?

I think the only way to get rid of the envelope is to remove the voicemail tags in the XML for your homescreen. Esentially the voicemail is there whether you like it or not, but if its just a matter of seeing the icon, then you should be able to get rid of that.

Yes, the envelope that comes up when e-mail is received.

How do you remove the tags from the XML?

Considering you are the expert on this XML stuff, you are probably correct. I was just guessing, but it seems like it would be possible......thanks for the insight scott.

If all else fails, a master reset will get it back. I did the same thing a while back and that's what i ended up doing
