Question question about syncing to PC

When you sync data from a smartphone what does it sync to on the PC? Do you need outlook installed on the pc or does it sync to another calendar/task application?

Can you edit on the pc and then sync with the data on the Q phone?

Is this how most users back up the data on the phone, or is there another way of backing up?

Thanks!

Smartphone will sync appointments, tasks and contacts to your PC. You do need to have Outlook (not Outlook Express) installed to use ActiveSync. You can edit these items on the PC and sync them back to the Smartphone device. This is one way to backup data. Another is Sprite Backup. Another way is to use some type of over-the-air method like Verizon's Wireless Sync or a hosted Exchange service.

Using Outlook and wireless sync, I keep both units "Q" and desktop sync'd all the time. any changes made in either will be update to the other in minutes. Loss of either still leave me up to date. This for me it the only way to go. I will warn however, if you use this be aware emails you delete on the "q" are deleted on the computer. Except for junk email, I have gotten where I do not delete on the Q
