Default Q not syncing anymore

not sure what's wrong. It hasn't sync'd in the past few months. Activesync just ignores it. Won't even charge thru USB with activesync running. Considering reinstalling activesync

good plan..before that try unchecking "enable advanced network functionality" under start>settings>connections>usb to pc..reboot. Worth a try....

Default thank you, thank you, thank you

Dear Tree Frog

I have spent four days trying to reestablish a connection between my Q and my computer and was just on the verge of a major meltdown (no contacts, no appointments, none of my notes) when I found your post about this issue. I had to do a master reset in order to get my sound to come back. (Even though I had my regular volume and my headset volume completely turned up I couldn't hear anything.) It would fix itself for 10 seconds or so if I took the battery out and then it would crash again.
I remember way back a year ago when I spent 8 hours between Verizon help and Motorola help trying to get the Q to synch in the first place (it needed a firmware upgrade and a bunch of other patches to make it work) -- and I remember the Motorola guy had asked me to uncheck the "advance functionality" button. However my brand new phone had such ancient software that the option didn't even exist until the patches and upgrades were in place.

Default it worked -- but not problem free otherwise

Dear Tree Frog

Yes it worked (although I am not the person who originally asked the question). I have had my work computer and my Q synchronized for more than a year before having to do the master reset. But as soon as I fixed one problem several other ones have occurred. When I finally synched my work XP computer all but 3 of my notes from Outlook disappeared (I have smartnotes but it hadn't been reloaded yet). Many of those notes are on another computer but I may have lost some more recent ones. I keep all kinds of random information that I can never remember or involve lots of steps. I've tried looking all over and can't find them. They are not in the delete file in outlook. Outlook also seems to archive things but there is nothing in any of the archives.

My second problem is that I haven't been able to find out if I can synchronize my Q with both my work computer (XP) and my new laptop (Vista) . I know that one uses Activesync and the other used the mobile device manager but can't figure out if I can do both without screwing things up somehow. I've searched in this forum as well as the microsoft site and haven't come up with an answer.

Thanks, Karen
