PPC software for Q? - Motorola Q Forum

Will software for a pocketpc work on the Q? I am desperate for Scrabble. I had it on my Palm Pilot and I have been checking everywhere for a version for my Q. Haven't found it yet. Any suggestions?

there was a guide somewhere to installing almost any ppc software on your smartphone...steps that I hadn't seen anywhere else. unfortunately, firefox took a crap and i lost all my bookmarks. anyone know what site/guide I'm talking about?

Even still it's unlikely the software will work. Games are *particularly* finicky, most of them are designed for portrait and won't work on Treos which are also PPC.

I think alternatives are in order. You should probably start a new thread for Scrabble only, perhaps someone has the answer. I tried an old gameboy color Scrabble rom using the smartgear emulator and it played pretty well, but it was quite a bit of trouble configuring the emu... so in this case it's all about how bad you really want it.

I was gonna ask this same questions earlier. I know PPC software wont work on a smartphone, but what about viceversa? Will smartphone software work on a PPC?

i think it will not work both ways... it's like Chevy parts in a Ford and/or vice versa. (well, sorta :}

I have a couple of PPC programs that work on my Q. But if I decied to go with the 6800 whjen its released, I weanted to know if my Fizz weather and Fizz monitor will work correctly.

Today plugins are not compatible. At all. However, there are plenty of alternatives for today plugins, on Pocket PC a lot of them are free.

Weatherpanel (unlimited trial, essentially free) shows weather on Today, and as for Fizz Monitor, I'm not sure but I've seen several items that can display system info.

It's best to look for alternatives in almost all cases instead of trying to get versions to work on both platforms.

I agree. Try the software you want. It will tell straight away if the app will not work. The problem you will have is the need for a touchscreen.
