Default Pocket IE - download more file types?

it seems really pathetic that pie can only download the preordained file types, and no zip or rar... it is bizarre, some of the software limitations on this otherwise great device!

does anyone know how to add file types? i know smarttweaker program does it somehow, but i want more filetypes.. like.. how about every type i have a viewer for?! stinking weird illogical software design..

i am sure others feel the same.. any ideas?

thank you.

i have a feeling this is through a registry hack, or similar, but i dont know.ive had my Q a week.. i am reallyy irritated with the software though. before you claim 'it is a smartphone, not a pda', let me tell you. i disagree that 'smartphone' means crippled. why can we not just set a 'dummy mode' setting?

Any ideas on how to add file types to MS PIE?

Thank you very much

I've had my Q since May and have done a lot of registry hacks and edits to it. This is the best, and really only, solution I have found for the issue you are referring to. If you find something better, please, let the rest of us know.

yes. i sure will. i hope to make a backup of my registry, install smarttweak, and then compare the 2 registries.

anyone know if there is a utility to do this automatically? can i export my registry into something like excel to use an excel feature to compare the data?

even the ability to add .zip and .exe is a great thing, but i really want *.*

anyone know if opera mini has similar file extension restrictions?

thanks!
