I loaded Esmertec Jbed MIDP v2.0, and I can play games just fine, but I get a black bar above the task bar that wont go away. I'm curious if anyone else is having this problem? I just got my Q last week, and I've been able to figure out and troubleshoot just about everythig else but this. Thanks for any help!

I'm new to Jbed, but I added it last week and have been a java addict ever since. I haven't had any problems with my program/display; other than sound issues (someone please keep us updated on a fix). Maybe you should try downloading the one that's linked to Rainmakers app page (1st page of this thread). If so, please give him thanks.

Also if you, or anyone, come across other great java titles, please let me know so I can add them to our .jar games (compatibility) list.

Mobiles24 web site is free to join and has lots of java games - check out the message boards for interesting info and apps as well). I have JBED (Esmertec) as my primary but also have J9, JBLEND, and JEODEK installed. Basically JBED does it all but usually I turn off sound or get crashes. Many games start with sound and therefore crash immediately.

I had a tremendous list of games but am starting over to 1) clean up and 2) I had to master clear due to playing around too much with registry.

You can also find many games on 4shared (and other apps of interest).

If looking for JAVA apps - don't limit by moto q. Many nokia sites and others offer many jar applications (usually in bundled .rar files). Simply it is trial and error on what will work. If you find one game jar that doesn't work the same game under a different version or screen size may very well work. Again, if a game does seem to load and it does not ask you if you want to enable sound (always say yes) then go right to setting and turn off the sound. If you really like sound, give it a try... if it locks just kill it in the task manager.

i am using a modified version of jbed that allows 3d java. some games that work and utilize the full screen are:

ea mobile the sims 2
oberon games fish tycoon
kojak detective puzzles
las vegas nights (sims type game)

sound still doesn't work.

other games that i can play, even though it doesn't use full screen:

csi miami
csi las vegas
my hangman
simcity societies
are you smarter than a fifth grader

I tested all these games at 320x240 resolution on my MotoQ smartphone.
Any games that started without the sound muted would crash immediately. I cant verify they worked so I left them off my list.

When the game asks if you want sound, say no. No sound emulation at least for my moto q. "Might be a Q-related issue as it's working OK on other devices, incl. other MS Smartphone like the Oxygen and the Vox (the ones I've tested it on)."

Keep in mind, some of these games are expecting phone pad input, so u will need to use the phone pad for those few games.
Once you install the jar file into Jbed, you won't need to load it again. Run the Jbed Applet in your start menu and the game will be listed.
