Default New Software update!

Downloaded it yesterday from the hellomoto.com support page. I have noticed a bit better battery life on standby, haven't done a lot of regular phone use with it yet, but i will let you know how it goes!

Nothing i have noticed yet. There is a thread on the qusers.com forum with people that have had it for a couple of days. I just thought i should let everyone here know that it was out.

Here is the link to the forum:
http://www.qusers.com/forum/viewtopi...er=asc&start=0

Looks like the only downside to the update is the SMS threader apps don't work. Big big minus. I loved my txtman!!!!

Yeah, thanks for the heads-up..

I submitted my email address to Motorola to be notified of software updates, but apparently they discarded that list or some such thing, because I've never received any emails about any of the updates.

Whoa, Just found this halfway through the thread!!!

***OFFICIAL UPDATE INFO***

There is a bug in the Motorola Software Update download that allowed us to download it. Motorola was surprised to find out that we could download the new update. Nobody is supposed to have the update until it’s officially released on Dec. 12th. On the 12th Motorola will launch the update along with a Release List of all the updates.

The release is still in “Beta” mode and still contains some bugs. Verizon and Motorola have both advised against updating your software since a Master Reset will NOT revert your software back to the original factory software. If your phone crashed you will have to take it to an authorized repair center to have it re-programmed.

That’s why nobody knows anything about the update yet!

Hope this helps!

I have had it off the charger for over 36 hours and with regular phone use and web browsing, half battery life on an extended battery. That is a huge improvement from my battery performance before the update. I would get through half the day and have to plug it in to my computer at work so that i could get through the rest of my day. Maybe my bettery sucked, but it performs WAYYYYY better then before.

Ditto. I've done the update and my battery life has gone way up! I would estimate that their is a fifty percent improvement. Also, the user interface seems to be a bit faster (though not fast enough in my opinion). The only drawback so far is that my activesync isn't very happy about all this. It doesn't connect to my bluetooth. But, that's another matter.

I updated my Q for the first update but now I load the Motorola Software update software and it doesn't detect my Q. Activesync sees it and syncs but the update says "phone is not connected".

thanks

Mike

Hmmm, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the update software? Have you powered your phone and computer on and off? If you get tired of trying to figure this out yourself call Motorola: 1-800-659-5975 m-f 6am-10pm and s-s 9am-6pm. It's free and a live person picks up fast.

And, something else I've noticed after updating: I had my Q plugged in via USB for about 30 to 40 minutes and it charged my battery up to full power from approximately 50%. I don't recall in charging my battery at before the update.
