Were all your folders empty before you switched to xt?

Yes, I completely deleted all my text messages before I installed the program. The program just keeps getting slower and slower

Click "New"
Then click cancel
Click menu and choose "Type Recipent"
That worked, albeit cumbersome

Its amazing how we can have the same phone, same OS, different experiences... Sorry fellas.

ET works great for me. And its Extremely fast. I wonder if the problem is carrier specific... I'm with Verizon and I experience no problems. Who are you all with?

Personally, I'm with sprint. I don't see how the carrier would have anything to do with the speed of the software on the phone. Like you say, we have the same phone, same OS, etc etc.

I have all my programs installed on the actual device. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

do you have the program installed on the device or storage card?
how many messages do you have in your inbox, including sent items?

it could be because of the huge inbox/sentbox size as each conversation requires a scan on each of the sms folder to create a conversation thread. Because the default windows sms store is not designed wtih thread conversation in mind, I can imagine software like extremetext will need to scan the entire text store before displaying them in threading form.

Palm thread messaging might not have this problem, because they save the message in their propietory format, which could be designed for better performance. The downside is you can't use other tools like Jeyo extender that assumes text messages are in default store.

could be the version of XT that you are using. I was using version 1.02 early on and I realized that 1.1 was out. You can download it from Birdsoft's site and it makes a huge difference!!

Well, I said that because sometimes Windows Mobile is different on different carriers and devices.

WM has carrier specific changes done to it that sometimes may effect the way one app works on the phone compared to the same phone, same os, with another carrier.

For example, each carrier has their own system settings for sms and mms. I would imagine that WM would be adjusted slightly to ensure proper sms or mms correspondance on different carriers. Hence, a program like ET operating differently when using WM sms settings of AT&T vs verizon's sms settings

Just a suggestion
