Not sure about excel but you can put office documents like .doc and things like this on the phone and view it. You can't edit them though.

Searching the forum will find you lots of answers.

The long and shot is simple, Ptab will allow you to edit your excel files. It is not free. Otherwise, the Q can view Office (word, ppt, excel) files natively. It cannot edit them. There are no 3rd party solutions out yet other than ptab for excel. There are many text editors that can do .txt files.

Default How do you view Word docs?

I've been trying to view a word doc. Downloaded the trial of clearview... bottom line is that the page requires mega scrolling from right to left to view the entire document. If I zoom out to page width, then it is impossible to read at all. If I zoom in too much, the print size is perfect but requires so much scrolling you can get dizzy!

Any suggestions?

I get the best viewing from the viewer that came on the phone albeit it does require a lot of scrolling. You do have to take into account the size of the screen for print documents. I have heard, and hope there is some truth in it that MS is working on a version of Office for the smartphone. With their popularity, it would definately be a good seller.
