Default Moto Q software

A friend of mine recently gave me some software to try out for my moto q. He has the Sprint ppc6700, which uses the WM5 OS. Although the Moto Q has the same operating system, I'm unable to install ANY of the programs that worked on his phone. I'm still within my 30 day satisfaction guarantee so I just want to know, is the moto q just pretty, or does it compete with other smart phones like the ppc6700 in terms of potential.

I apologize if this question has been answered before, but I was unable to find anything with the search feature.

Default differences between PPC6700 and Q

Geta

The PPC6700 runs Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC platform and is a full fledged Pocket PC. The Moto Q runs Windows Mobile 5 Smart Phone edition. These OS's look the same but are acutally different. Alot of the applications that run on Pocket PC edition will not work on the SmartPhone Edition.

If your looking for apps I would suggest making sure they are confirmed to work on smartphone not ppc. From my expierence there are sutiable substitues for most of the applications that run on the Pocket PC.

There is a great list of applications here on everything Q alot of them free. You can click the link at the top of the page that says software or follow this link.
