I am giving it a trial I use Gmail. The only option I see is to forward the message to my xxxxxxxxxx@email.uscc.net address. The x's represent my cellphone number. Gmail then forwards the entire email to that address. Some of the larger emails are getting rejected by US Cellular. Most do go through fine.

Push Effect does work great. I just have this one small problem to solve with my cellphone providers email/sms server. Does anyone know a way to make Gmail send a small message instead of forwarding the entire message to my phones email/sms address?

Thanks,

Buddy

Ah, I get it. Yahoo and Hotmail provide "mobile sms alerts" for new mail. Just an alert, as apposed to "email forwarding".

On your phone you can go into gmail and account options and tell it to only download the first so many kb of a message. Or is that not what you are talking about? On mine in the message it gives the option to download the rest of the message, and then the next time I send/recieve it brings in the rest of it.

I'm talking about the Gmail side, not the phone side. What would be nice is Gmail could send my phone a sms message when I get an email. I'm doing this to use Push Effect.

I hear ya..I got an AOL account that also will only forward the whole message. And to top it off, it will only forward emails from people you set up. That one I just let Q check every couple of hours. Will Gmail let you forward to say a Yahoo account?

I'm sure it will forward to a Yahoo account.

I'm looking at FastMail right now. I would have to pay FastMail a one time set up fee of 14.95. I can forward from Gmail to FastMail and FastMail will send a notification to Push Effect, which will then download from Gmail. Kinda going in circles.....lol
