Default MOL 2 UpGrade = EZPZ

I just wanted to report that I did the MOL 2 update today and it was a breeze. I purchased Sprite Backup 1st and ran a full backup. Did the download from Moto and let everything run its course. I did have an error at first, but I removed the battery, replaced it and restarted the process with no issues. I then restored my back up and everything is cool again. It backed up and restored all of my registry hacks, themese, even the beloved Orange DLL. I've noticed quicker speeds when manipulating the Q and I do like the BT Volume dial using the jog dial.

I followed the instructions here and it went down real smooth. I encourage y'all to try it. I was very apprehensive b/c of the amount of hacking i've done and finally getting it perfect and I wasn't diappointed.

EZPZ Lemon Squeezee
SWEET! I love the new update too. Went like a breeze (same error, restart) other than that, sweet.
Have you also noticed a huge battery life increase?
I can go almost 2 days with heavy use now. Barley a day before.

Worked like a Charm. Make sure to back up your settings with a software program like Sprite back up!

Exactly what information will be lost after the update? I haven't installed any apps into my Q, haven't performed any hacks, all of my media is stored on my card (pictures, video clips), and I used Wireless sync to store my contacts.

Will the original apps that came with the phone be deleted? Do I have anything to worry about, or am I just being overly cautious?

You won't have anything to worry about. If you don't have any 3rd party, (non-default) apps on the phone, and everything you have is stored on the SD card. All the apps that came with the phone will be there still. The phone will be just as it was the day you bought it in that regard, just better.

plus if you do have 3rd party apps, as long as you use the new sprite backup, everything will remain the same. there is even a radio check in Sprite options to back up your storage card. I checked that too.

Thanks!! I'm going to try it out. I just hope my Wireless sync is O.K. after the update. I would imagine that I will have to re-set up my Q's Wireless sync info after the update.
This shouldn't affect anything stored on the verizon server (my contacts), right?
I should just make sure that I am overwriting my Q's info (via the settings on the phone in Wireless sync), and not the info on the server, correct?

This site is great, BTW....... spoken like a true newbie

Question Device Upgrade or Regular Restore?

Glad to hear your update went well. I've got one question though. When you did your Sprite backup/restore, did you use the "Device Upgrade Mode" or just a regular restore?

I did the update early and have the version with the bugs. I need to go to verizon and get a new one possibly or have my current one wiped clean. Will the sprite back up reinstate the bug that are presant on my current phone because the back-up i ran was with the messed up update? Also, even though i have apps installed on my SD card, will i need to re-install those apps?
