Default MobileVoiceNotes Warning

I have finally recovered from my installing MobileVoiceNotes on my Q. I took a look at it on Handango, read the description, the compatibility, etc., and decided to give it a try. Ony after installing it I found out that it only works on the Q if you have Sprint service. I have Verizon. Then I found out that when it is going through its setup it completely freezes everything and locks up the device. After playing and working for about 2 hours I finally got it off. While I am sure that it is a good application, word of warning. DO NOT USE it if you have Verizon.

Cheers -
Peter

I just went to Handango and searched on MobileVoiceNotes, Mobile Voice Notes, Voice Notes and VoiceNotes with no hits.

I finally tried just Voice and didn't find any note programs. Could you have meant MobileVoiceControl?

Default CORRECTION: MobileVoiceControl

Steve was right, the problem app is MobileVoiceControl. I am sure it works great on a Sprint phone, but not on Verizon.

thanks Steve!

I wouldn't be so sure.

First, what difference is there between the Sprint and Verizon Qs that would cause this?

Second, that program sounds awesome, but I can't believe a working program like that would sell for only $6. Microsoft charges almost 6x that for Voice Command.

UPDATE: Maybe I'm wrong. I went to the devleoper's Web site, and it appears this is NuanceVoiceControl. Nuance is big in voice recognition, but it also appears they want a monthly subscription charge, so maybe the $6 was per month (although I didn't see that mentioned at Handango).

As the product picture shows a silver Q, I assume that's working on either Verizon's or a Canadian carrier's model. (The image is obviously a pre-production unit.)

Default More on MobileVoiceCommand

Right, the first issue is that it is a subscription program. I was drawn in by the $6 price, and then found out only after the purchase that it would really have cost me $72 a year. UGH! The pricing is pretty misleading.

Second, the "locking" up issue started as soon as I went to begin using the program. It appeared to have something to do with the application trying to contact Sprint from my phone, perhaps to authenticate the account, which I believe is why it not only hosed my Windows functions but all of my phone functions as well. So I don't think it is a conflict due to hardware or software, instead it is related to provider. Perhaps this could be solved by some intrepid hacks, but I am not going to waste my time with it.
