Microsoft Live Mesh is the new hotness -- you can register your PC (and soon, your Windows Mobile device and even a Mac) with the network and then select whatever folders you'd like to sync. Cloud-based storage For The Win. It had been in preview mode, but now it's live (get it?) to anybody with a Live ID. Looks like the they'll start you with 5 gigs of storage synced across multiple PCs.
You can also share your Mesh-synced folders with others, post comments, and so on. You are almost surely going to want this -- check it at http://www.mesh.com
Can't wait for Windows Mobile support for this -- syncing files just by dragging to a folder on a PC (or even a Mac)? Sign me up.

Update: Whoops, maybe not. LiveSide notes that what's really happened here is they've simplified the signup process and lifted their cap for the # of users they'll allow in the Tech Preview. Best go sign up now, kiddos.

Sorry, your web browser does not currently support Active X controls. This Active X control is only needed if you're trying to connect to a remote device from your Live Desktop. You can still connect to a remote device in your mesh by using the Live Mesh notifier on your device.

I gave it a whirl and can manually add files but I'm stuck at adding my pc to the sync ring!! Probably a firewall problem here at work, will try tonight from home I guess!! Thanks for the heads up!!

sorta kinda figured some of it out...

after I installed the software it did add my pc to the ring and did get that same error as Scott. But I was able to right click on any folder on my pc though to make it a "mesh sync" folder. It then turned blue and automatically added it to my Live Desktop. Also note you can't be logged into mesh to add folders...it seemed...kept getting errors until I logged out. And then to test further I added another file (a jpg) to my "meshed folder" on my pc and then went to the mesh site and guess what? Yup, that jpg was in there!! Sweet..

can't wait for them to enable mobile devices!

kinda neat, although I don't have too much use for it right now (until they add the mobile app, then it may come in handy)
