I updated my MotoQ to the newest software version today. After the update, I re-installed the newest version of Map4pda and .Net CF 2.0. When you run the Map4pda software it crashes and gives you an error message that want's to send the problem to Microsoft.
I emailed the creator,
Philippe Furlan about the problem and here is his response: Bad news, it is a low level error that I can not fix; only Microsoft or Motorola can fix it. I will be technical here in case Microsoft or Motorola is reading or other software developers have the same problem:
With the latest update of Motorola Q (12/12/06), the .NET 2.0 class 'System.Windows.Form.WebBrowser' is not functional. When this class is initialized, the application will crash. I believe it is an issue with the low level library/dll of Internet Explorer which is used by this class.
End of technical comment.
Solution? Not used this defective module and find a similar one. This major update of Map4PDA will need to be part of the major new version I am currently working on which was scheduled to be release only around February/March of 2007.
The upcoming new version of Map4PDA is a complete software rewrite which include a Voice Recognition and "Text To Speech" engine.
It looks I won't be able to use the map software until he comes out with the next version. Has anyone experienced this problem?
