So what about the next update? Kinoma, are you listening? I'd like to see:
  • a 5 band equalizer with preamp
  • full screen album art view
  • ability to select the bookmark/view to load at launch, like load into the YouTube search page.
  • Alternately: if you could create a launcher app for any favorite, orIf I could get to the photo album via it's own icon like it was a seperate app, I could set that up as a shortcut up in my home screen. I really like the photo viewer as it was a huge improvement over the Q's camera app browser.
    • This may be a simple fix: if you could allow favorites to be launched as speed dial shortcuts that would be awesome, you could basically launch any favorite (Photos or any component apparently can be a favorite) and it could act as a stand alone app, yet still be integrated into the whole of kinoma. On a qwerty phone I don't even use speeddial because typing the name is intuitive and easy. If I need a faster method I'll train myself to effectively use voice dial.
  • a quicker way to get to the Now Playing screen (like have it automatically go to the Now Playing screen when the app is 'launched' when already running. Example: my Q9h has the media player key mapped to KinomaPlay via a registry key. So it would be nice that when Kinoma Play is running, if I hit that key, Kinoma reinitializes and goes to the Now Playing view. It seems like it should be simple to implement.
  • Hotkey support. We have lots of keys on smartphones. Preferably user-configurable.

I just wanted to add that at first I was concerned about the memory footprint of Kinoma, but once I figured out how to map a dedicated button on my phone to Kinoma, it is more like I have a near whole media system in once app, and I spend a lot of time within the app which warrants the memory usage. If it can be optimized (I'm sure it can) than great, but my Q9h runs just fine with it.

Did I mention gapless recording? I'd really like that. Musical segments in classical and Grateful Dead and stuff like that just are not the same without gapless playback. Essentially I think you need to beef up the audio player to be a real contender of any othe rplayers out there. I think it is really close, and it is my player. But this app could really be a huge success if some key areas are addressed, and make it so that as a whole and as comeponents, the 'apps' in Kinoma are as accessable from as many user-configurable ways as possible. I think just simple shortcust (like Sharklinks works on Palm OS) would be perfect, then you could configure your favorites however you would configure any other application. You want to see the photo browser (which could use some organization capabilities, please), just select it from whatever launch method of your choice. As long as you are allowed to enterthe app into a favority, it should be super easy to do. Ultimate flexibility in an elegant simple design. Probably really cheap for Kinoma to implement as well.

Sorry, I'm scatterbrained how about the ability to crop a picture? It would be fine to just have Kinoma save the zoom and pan that the user sets, that would at least let you tailor the pictures to the small phone screens. But there should be some kind of cropping ability, no? You can essentially crop a contact photo, so some code is already there I would guess.

Other basic picture editing like contrast and saturation, color levels. Camera phones often get bad white balance and being able to cool or warm up a picture would be incredible. I'd be happy to pay extra for a deluxe version that had some more robust functionality.

The more I dig the more I see that could be fleshed out. When sending a picture:

  • There is no lookup support, you have to manually type any addresses
  • Can't change the subject line
  • Can't attach multiple picts to one email

True, but taking out some of the 'known' non-media locations has had a dramatic effect on my scan times.

That may be.... but when one clicks on an image file to view it, there is still a wait while the kinoma app opens and scans.
The makers of this app need to let the user choose and set media folders, and select when to scan.
When that functionality is available I will use Kinoma again.

I can understand, but as someone who keeps all of there audio, video (both Orb) and pictures (Flickr) online the local scan takes next to no time at all and I don't have any local pictures to view.

As someone always says 'KinomaPlay is not for everyone'.
