| Killer Apps; Use At Your Own Risk We need a thread that lists apps people might want to stay away from. So, I'm starting one.
Here's why:
My Q9m has been running like a dream for the past few days, but I was about to throw it out of the window Saturday. I had to run several errands & I used Windows Live Search to get direction & find the stores I needed.
It's great for that, but it drained my battery, prevented Task Manager from opening, & slowed my phone to a crawl. I did several battery pulls, turned off my phone several times, erased all my messages but none of this improved my Q's performance. Finally, I uninstalled Windiows Live Search & my Q9m starting running like new again.
I already have predictive text disabled by the way & the memory cleared. I don't have Facade or anything that runs in the background o my phone other than perhaps Chronos clock. So, I'm pretty sure Windows Live Search was the culprit to my phones poor performance.
My question is, has this happened to others? Are there any other apps that you have noticed ruin your phones performance?
Here's MY list of killer apps so far:
Pocketplayer - total memory hog; it was the best player out there at the time for playing & bookmarking my library book downloads when I bought it; I still use it, but not with anything else running
Windows Media Player - memory hog & there are better apps out there some of which are free TCPMP & GSplayer come to mind; both of these alternative have a very smal memory & processor footprint on the phone
Pocket Internet Explorer - I've been using OperaMin lately & my phone seems to be running much better |

| That's why the title of the thread is "use at your own risk" not install at your own risk.
PIE is okay, my phone does seem to run better now that I'm using OperaMini instead. It's zippier.
Window Media Player works like Pocketplayer for me. I cannot use it with other apps running. My phone will crash.
The other thing is, I noticed there are threads that list apps that people like, but not as many for apps that drive people crazy. I think certain apps can give Windows a bad name. Especially the non-touch screen operating system on the Qs which is actually pretty quick & stable. But, load the wrong app & you'd never know it. |

| I have to nominate Smart Toolkit. I know that tons of people love, and use this program; however, I think that in my case it did more harm then good. I love the way it changes the start menu and gives you a quick task manager on your RSK, but I was rstarting constantly, missing calls, and having issues running stuff.
By all means, give it a shot, but if you start noticing any crazy issus then Smart Toolkit may be the problem. |

| I love SmartToolKit. It's a great interface. My Q hates it, however. It crashes my phone somethin' awlful. |
