Default installing .cab file problem

i have been searching for about an hour now and so far i have had no luck. I apologize in advance for not being able to find this via search but i simply cannot find the answer.

when installing a .cab (homescreen utilizing facade) file off of my storage card (2 gb micro SD) it executes a huge line of code on my screen and just stops once it has finished executing the code. i am left with the huge line of code and nothing installed. what am i doing wrong? i am installing this from a folder on the root drive of my storage card.

I am also having this problem when trying to install the necessary plugin files for TCPMP youtube .cab file.

thanks in advance
-Kevin

your not removing the contents of the cab file are you?

make sure when you put the cab file on your Q you just navigate to the file in the file manager and click on it and it will install

never remove the contents of the .cab file!

I am not removing the cab files.

I have not had a chance to remove the cab files as the files have not "installed" so...i don't know if this helps at all?

do i need to install off of the device and not the storage card?

I am downloading to the PC. extracting where necessary, transferring the extracted folder or downloaded folder to the q via sync (usb connection). disconnect the phone from the computer once transfer is complete and using file manager i try to install the files. although the files i see do not say .cab they say .xml (i just noticed this now)

you are doing exactly what i said not to do

do not remove the contents
you should never see any .xml files that in the .cab file
even though the file icon 'looks like a zip file' it is most definately not

download the cab file then move that ENTIRE file you just downloaded to the Q and then run it
