You probably have a lot of songs in the aac format, which equals death to WMP.... there are aac -> mp3 conversion programs, but be prepared to wait days if you have a large library.

This has a lot to do with the music companies wanting protection for their product. For Apple to carry it and sell it, they have to use a DRM. It is EXACTLY the same with Microsoft, so before you start shooting off about Apple this and Apple that, it's not an "Apple" thing but an RIAA thing.

If you want to convert the music you buy via iTunes or through MS's Zune to MP3 you simply burn it to a 20c CD and reimport it into your iTunes or WMP or whatever. It really isn't that big of a deal, given the state of the universe. I mean if this is your only problem, consider yourself blessed!

so to get .aac protected music to play, you must burn it, reload it onto itunes, but then wont it replace the original file?

also, can you do it with a data disk just so that you can do more at a time?

You'll have two identical files (outside of the fact one will have the copy protection).
