What is smartlight? I have a Moto Q (1st edition?) and I have never heard of this thing in which he speaks of (smart light).

the smart baklight is only on the various Q9 models. they can adjust the backlight based on the ambient light in the area (if it is dark the backlight will be dimmed to make it easier on your eyes)

Nothing like that on my Q and I have one that was new in May of 2007. Are you saying newer versions of the same Q (original not 9C or 9H) have this smartlight feature? If so will a firmware update give me this feature? BTW I have Candleight and it works great and has been flawless since I installed it over a year ago.

none of the Q1 "versions" will have that feature

you use it ? i turned it on the other day, and i can get used to the dimmer screen but last night i was in a car, darker circumstances and the keyboard did not light up & well, i kinda like to see the keys :}

that's what i was hoping for to happen.. it does when i put my finger over the sensor, it's just ON of OFF the smart backlight correct ?
