Default Howto: convert AVI, MPEG, DivX, WMV, MOV, RM, etc. to 3GP, MP4, 3G2.

ImTOO 3GP video converter is a powerful 3GP file converter which can convert AVI to 3GP, MPEG to 3GP video files. 6: Click "Encode" button to convert video file to 3GP:

can you change the resolution of the clip too? Having a 1024x768 video clip on a Q would be a huge waste of space.

Of course, you can change output video resolution by clicking Video Size of the right panel.

What is to best way to get a DVD on to my Q? Will this program do it and if so do I need something else to get it into a AVI etc?

This software cannot rip DVD to 3GP. You can download DVD to 3GP Converter here to rip DVD to 3GP MP4 3G2.
