hey im new i just got my q the other day.. i am trying to get my computer to read the q... i have a old computer it runs windows 98 SE so active sync dosnt work on it.. well at least not the version supplied with the Q... what does active sync do? i always thought it just copys all your email and regular contacts into the Q etc.. i live in canada data is very expensive so i mainly bought the Q for looks ... i just want to be able to trasnfer mp3 files and other media files onto my q .. if i can do that i will be more than satisfied .. i just want to know how i can get my q to be reconized as a seperate drive .. like a mp3 player does.. so i can just put files in the correct folders??? is there any possible way to do this?? .. or a older version of active sync that would work with my computer and with the Q's windows mobile???
active sync copies your outlook data and allows you to access and copy files to your Q....
you can search google to try to find the older version of active sync...you need active sync 3.7....
Or you could just update Windows......Microsoft doesn't support Windows 98SE anymore, and they didn't have the Q in mind at all. I know this might not be a cost effective solution for you, but it might be a good idea for anything you try to combine with your PC in the future.
i dont have the options of upgrading my OS .. that would be another headache in its self... but umm just looking into active sync... activesync 3.7.1 looks like it will work with windows 98SE .. my hope is that the q has some sence of backwords comptability
and also oldversion.com is legit right? thats where i found the old version of activesync thanks
