Default Gmail Imap quick question

Just a real quick question, I've read the thread on setting up the gmail account with IMAP access on my Q, but I haven't seen any discussion on this further. At 5:00pm today I sent and received my emails and got an email from a friend, so I replied to it on my Q, hit send and receive and then get the following error message:
The message(s) could not be sent. Verify that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again.

Now this has happened to me before and I restarted my q, and disabled the wireless access and all and in the end I did what the imap thread suggests which is delete the account on the Q and set it up again. That fixes the problem but my question is, is anyone else still having this problem? I can't imagine that since I didn't change any user info on gmail, or on my q account setting that it would cause a problem but it just bothers me that I have to delete my account on my q and set it up again once a week. Thanks in advance for your help.

Which thread did you read? I know there are a few, so is it possible that there may be an incorrect setting? Did you use the settings GMail suggests on its help page?

I have been running Gmail IMAP on my Q9c for a couple of weeks now (formerly used POP3 access for Gmail), and I have not had the problem you described.

I'll have to search the history of my home computer when i get back home but basically it pointed to the gmail blog. I used the windows mobile 5 setup procedures and the first time i set it up everything worked fine for a day. I was able to send emails out and receive them with no problem and then the next day it stopped working and i didnt even change a setting. Today I literally received an email and went to reply to it and it stopped working.

Default Same, same.

This happens to me all the time. When I first setup IMAP with G-Mail it works fine (on both my wife and my Q9c). After a while (sometimes hours, sometimes days) it will no longer send and gives the error you describe. The only fix I've found is to delete the account and recreate it. Wash, rinse, repeat. I have several other devices that use G-Mail with IMAP and I have no problems with them. This is a Q9c problem.

I still haven't figured it out, but I've gotten pretty fast at setting the account back up again. My work is getting all new phones in 2 weeks so I'm probably not going to have my Q after that. I'll have to see if it does it on my new phone.

its also a Q problem..... ive got the Q(not C or H or M or whatever) and last night my phone refused to send mail.....

seems like a PITA to delete the account and start all over everytime it does it.... meanwhile you probably lose the e-mails that are in your outbox waiting to be sent....

Funny thing is, i dont get the error unless i try to manually send and receive.... i know this because last night i manually did it cuz i wanted the recipient to get it right away and not in 15 min, so after i hit send, i hit send and receive and got the error, so i went to my outbox and noticed 2 other e-mails sitting in there, one i sent eysterday morning and the other around noon. now this morning all 3 are still in there but i only get the error when i manually send and rceive. Also it bears to mention that i can get e-mails jst fine.

This has been posted before, and I've also posted it this morning in the Q9c forums, but there's an easy fix...

The way to fix it is to either delete the e-mail account completely, and recreate it. OR the easier way is to temporary change the password. Try to login again (it'll fail since you've changed your pw to a fake incorrect one). Then change it back to the correct password. This should fix it so you can send e-mails again.

It's a known bug, and a pain. But at least there's an easy fix.

I would venture to say that the easy fix of deleting your account and recreating is the equivalent to telling someone to wipe their computer if they have a virus.... there has to be another way..... i say that because i just tried the password fix and it did not work for me.

Well, i didnt want to delete the account and recreate due to about 20 e-mails in my outbox waiting to be sent..... finally went ahead and just deleted all of them out of my outbox (waiting to be sent) and went ahead and took one out of the drafts folder as well..... sent a test message to my yahoo address and it went through flawlessly...... no recreating, no changing passwords, etc... just deleting outbox...... pretty whack fix if you ask me, i guess i need to start hitting send/rcv after every mail to make sure i dont build up a ton of emails that i waste by deleting....

Theres another thread about the same thing that i bumped with this response as well, the guy right above me in that other post said he had tried the password change fix, and it woudnt work till he deleted all outgoing messages waiting to be sent, which to me is about the same as recreating the account cuz thats the only reason i didnt want to do that, so if it happens again ill see if ONLY deleting outbox will work.... till then im gonna be hitting snd/rcv after each finished e-mail to make sure i dont lose 20 messages waiting to be sent....

FWIW, I believe there is a setting which should already be set by default within your Advanced Settings under "Send/Receive Schedule" that is "Send/Receive when I click Send". So each time you compose an e-mail, it should send right away. So when the bug arises and your e-mail doesn't send, you should see the error message right away.
