Default GMail App won't install

I've tried looking for this but nothing seems to fit the problems I am experiencing. I just got my new Q today and have been tweaking and hacking the crap out of it since I opened the box. It is unlocked (AEConfig) and I am using a registry editor (Mobile Registry Editor).

I point the IE browser to http://gmail/app and click on the link "Download Gmail" and an error message pops up which reads, "This file cannot be viewed on this device."

What gives?

You need to install a java emulator like Jbed on your Q first. I have the CAB file for Jbed on my apps page if you need it.

What Gmail app is appropriate to use with the JBED shell? I tried one and it didn't load the gmail app properly.

Never worked with a java emulator consiciously before but does your JBED work on the orig Q?

UPDATED: I downloaded & installed it from your site. Gmail works but the bottom 1/4 of the screen is cutoff with the phone's 'desktop' n the background.
Any workaround for this?

To be perfectly honest, the Gmail app is very similar to the mobile Gmail webpage; however, you can see the whole thing.

I tried using the app for quite a while, and ended up dumping it because it was hard to view.

You can also search around here for setting up Gmail with IMAP support, and then you can manage your inbox with your phones outlook program.

Actually I have the outlook version already & while it's not 'sexy' it is easy to use.

You are right. even in Opera Mini & Jbed, the fonts are incredibly hard to see with the GMail app.
Not sure why a powerhouse like Google would fall behind Yahoo on the mobile apps front.

The font problem is not google fault. It's moto q9c. There's a font fix. Search. You can use tahoma font for these programs.

As for gmail app, I still can't solve the bottom screen glitch. So I have settled with mobile gmail web. I prefer the web to outlook because of its conversation layout.
