Not totally sure, but if you search for the opera mini midlet thread there are instructions to bypass that permission popup totally. Might help.

Hmmm... Does anyone have the Gmail java app working? I have a Q9h, and I cannot get it to work. I use Xpress mail to check my "main" gmail account, but would love to use the java app to check my other, less used gmail accounts.

I got it up and running (original Q) last night. Works beautifully, and after some seaching and hacking I even got a little gmail icon on my launcher to go straight to it.

How did you get past the persistent pop-ups asking for internet access?

Search for the opera mini midlet thread and follow the popup supression instructions (it works for all apps installed on JBed). I thnk it's the third post on the first page.

Thanks Daisy, found it. But I am not getting that far with the newest version of the gmail app. I can put in my user id and password, but the Exit and Sign In soft keys do nothing. Grrrr...

I had no trouble with the smartphone version, but I did uninstall it and install I think the palm version so it would be full screen. You might try that. I believe I found that tip in the same thread. Search fullscreen gmail.

Is the link to the full screen version discussion. I know it's not related to the specific problem that you are having, but normally I would try to uninstall and reinstall for that type of problem and this will save you some frustration if you do get past the login. ;)

Thanks Daisy. I did find it and install it. I have the Q9h, and it comes with a different java manager, jblend instead of jbed. I don't have the folder and file that the fix program fixes, so I am back to square one. <sigh>

I may install jbed later and see if I can get it to work. I just don't like having to have two java managers installed.
