Default Frequency Scanner?

Hey has anyone heard of a program that allows your Q to listen in on radio frequencies? I'm going to a nascar race in less than a month and would like to be "set up." Thanks in advance! -My carrier is Sprint, and they offer an application for other phone models, but not for smartphones.

I don't think that is possible. The Q would have to have a receiver capable of receiving frequencies in the 400 MHz range and be able to decode the FM mode.

You will have to rent / buy a radio scanner to hear them.....

I assume the originally poster is wanting to listen to NASCAR drivers talking to their crew. They use two way radios for that, which is similar to the Family Radio Service or FRS radios, sometimes called walkie-talkies.

The radio stations you can listen to on the Q are commercial radio stations that broadcast over the air plus will stream their broadcast over the Internet. In order for that to work on the Q, someone at the race would need a conventional radio capable of picking up NASCAR frequencies, taking that audio and feeding it to a website that will in turn broadcast it over the Internet. I guess it is possible, but never heard of that being done.

For all practical purposes, the original post will need to buy or rent a radio scanner in order to hear NASCAR drivers talk to their crew (and vice versa).

Hope that helps,
David

Yea I knew I could buy the scanner or rent one, but I thought since I had such a "smart"phone that I'd give this avenue a try as well. Thx for the help.
