That said sprite backup full works great. It's much slower than I would have liked, took 5 minutes to restore 34 megabytes to the card so restoring a few gigabytes would take overnight but it's better than nothing.
Why are you considering actively backing up non-changing data? Most of my 4gb is music or movies. My complete backup of system, emails, changing docs, and 40 installed apps is only 34mb and yes it takes 5 minutes to back-up once a week. Even daily wouldn't be bad at that rate.

good, I'm sure most of that data is on your PC anyways.

Sprite makes it easy....you can just schedule it to automatically do it on a regular interval.

On my PC I just make sure I have my pics, docs and music on a portable hard drive or another PC.

The likelyhood of the Q needing to be reset up is a lot higher than one of my computers and the Q has so much uniquely set up like email accounts, hacks, home screens, program registration number; I would rather not do that for a MOL upgrade or Master Reset. As I said all my data resides in multiple places.

@ DrQ This is a question with which I have been concerned because of having no PC to backup my Q. What you are saying is that:

1. Sprite Lite is Q resident and can backup to my SC.

2. A hard reset does not affect the SC...so I could have all my third-party apps on one SC, say 1GB and backup the hard device of the Q to a second SC, a 156KB (or similar size) is that correct?

This way, I think (and here I would greatly appreciate your feedback) my information and my device would both be protected. If not, how should I proceed? A hard reset three or four months ago was hard...but one today would be awful! Thanking you in advance,

you don't... i said backup the Q and copy that backup to the pc, and why would you backup the storage card when you can just copy the contents (zipped or not) those to your pc ?

it is called a Master Reset and no it does NOT effect the storage card, however if you have applications installed on the storage card they will NOT be included/"linked" in the new fresh registry..

Yes...Sprite Lite is PC independent and backing up to a separate card would additionally protect the backup but I don't think it necessary. Like I said mine for all my contacts, calender, program settings, etc is 34mb. I keep my CABS all on my Storage card in case I need or want to uninstall or reinstall quickly.

I did a master Reset a couple of months ago to do the Sprint MOL 3 upgrade and my storage card was not affected.

If anyone has ever had their card affected by a Master Reset, I hope they will post it and correct me, as I really don't want to be responsible for that kind of bad advice.

OK...thanks. Restatring the Q after a master reset--will the SD be recognized, or do you have to set up new links? I was going to start this thread (and get Sprite) so this information couldn't have come at a better time.

Sprite does restore those registry links though, which is why I "likes" it

although there might have been one program that didn't work great and I had to reinstall. It might have been PDAnet
