On Fizz, there is a data tracker....
Go to view, options, menu, tracking options.
Here is a screenshot of mine. I download pretty much everything, warnings, satellite maps, etc...every hour (my battery lasts almost exactly a day...that is 24 hours...I switch batteries every morning...with a little talktime and some surfing....light use).
I figure this is probably my biggest drain, though I think the OZ IM client is a big drain as well.
As you can see, it does not download a tremendous amount of data for someone with an unlimited plan, but at .03 a kb costs would add up quickly...you'll also note that the vast majority is maps..which I almost never look at unless we have severe weather...but I have an unlimited data plan
