Default Fargin' Wireless Sync!

I've friggin' had it! I am very, VERY patient when it comes to working with technology. I completely understand that when I up the anty in technology, beit a car, personal device, or something that is the latest thing, there will be setbacks (due to both user and technological error). For this reason I neever get angry or short with technical workers or are helping me find a solution, because we are working together to find a solution...it's not their fault.

Whiile it sounds as though I am about to get angry at a techie, I am not. I am merely writing this to vent all the frustration I have felt with the Wireless Sync Software. It is spotty and shotty! I can't stand the fact that today I received no email on my phone, but there was new email both on WS and in my Outlook when I got back to the desk. That friggin' irks me bad! I mean, if a contact or date that I enter inmy phone doesn't sync properly to the server, I can get over it. But when I am out and about, on the road, and I expect emails but do not get them...that makes me carazy!

I tried all kinds of things from manually initiating the sync, to changing to push and then back to intervals, to resetting my phone. Nothing. Yet when I get back to the desk 43 emails-- NO SPAM! Solid, work centered emails that required attention. Yet my mail box showed Zero.

I tried removing the device from sync and then restoring it to sync...nothing.
Every once in a while I'd get an error message about "not able to resolve server (0x180B)" or somthing but even when that was gone it didn't send me emails.

Although this is the first entire day I've not received emails, I have experienced minor episodes like this before. But never like this. How can I place the weight of important wireless communication on Wireless Sync? I can't.

So, I've decided to use the WS now merely for syncing calendar and contacts and such. I setup a POP3 account in the messaging on the phone. I never had problems in this manner before. I hope WS continues to sync my dtata that I've selected but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.

One final note to this pointless venting. I do hae it setup with PC monitor and I've always wondered if that was the issue. My friend with a Mac that only syncs between the phone and WS has no issues ever. Anyway, if you've read to this point...thanks for reading/listening. End.

I can dig your dirt. Sometimes I get very frustrated with the Q, but when everything works right and smoothly, it seems to make it better. BTW, I like the Johnny Dangerously jargon.

I gave up on WS a long time ago. It could be coincidence, but as soon as Nokia took it over, it started going downhill.

Now I use a Personal Exchange account with Mail2Web.

We recently got rid of the VZW Wireless Sync and we are set up to communitcate directly with our exchange server....And I have to say that it is awesome.....Although we didn't have many problems with the VZW Wireless sync, we have already noticed increased speeds by bypassing it and communicating with our exchance server. We switched over 5 users today, and everyone has provided nothing but positive feedback.
I'm not sure if you have the option, but you may speak with your IT deparment because we love it!

Sorry about the VZW Wireless sync, I used it for about month with no complaints, i'm not sure what the problem is.

Thanks Mobley. I've been looking into Exchange. I own my own business and I just hate to setup something that's gonna add another recurring expense, but I do like what I see. I am waiting for Vista and Office to be released here soon, and then make a decision I guess. I guess I just feel let down by WS b/c it was free and seemed to work well for me (when it worked).

I feel your pain. I had nothing but problems with WS too. It would occasionally just not sync for no reason, send un-deletable emails with no sender or subject, causing me to need to do a hard reset. It didn't seem to care what your settings were set to. It just did whatever it wanted.

Now that I use a direct connection to the exchange server, email on my Q is perfect. And I do mean perfect. It works flawlessly. Emails come to my phone before they make it to my computer. Replying and accepting all work great.

Okay, maybe qwho or anyone else can clarify some things for me. I've vistied the Exchange website and tried to figure out exactly how it would handle my PIM and I've concluded that it is a nicer, quicker, and slicker version of Wirelesssync that specifically works with Microsoft stuff. I currently maintain my own website and the emails etc (ie www.xxxx.com). Aside from paying 11.80 per month for exchange, what else do I have to do with my existing domain to use it? Also, do I have to switch my domain to their server and if so is it a good/stable one? Finally, How does it work with Outlook and....Crap. Let's be honest...I'm kinda out of the loop with Exchange. What the Hell is Exchange really and why should I get it over just using Desktop Outlook, my phone, and my POP3 account.

When I speak about Exchange. I'm speaking about our Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. Exchange defined in wikipedia is:

Microsoft Exchange Server is a messaging and collaborative software product developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Windows Server System line of server products and is widely used by enterprises using Microsoft infrastructure solutions. Exchange's major features consist of electronic mail, shared calendars and tasks, and support for mobile and web-based access to information, as well as supporting very large amounts of data storage.

Depending on your company size, exchange may not be for you, not saying you can't but it sounds like you may be small or a 1 person entity, I don't know.

What exactly do you mean by accessing your desktop on the web? What are you using now to access your desktop via the web or do you mean usign VZW Sync website to check and send email.
