E-Mail Notification Question

Hello everyone,

I have my work email forwarded to a hotmail account. I can check this hotmail account on my Q. My question, is there any way for my Q to automatically check for new mail on this hotmail account and chime or dispaly a notification when new mail is received or do I have to go out and check my hotmail manually?

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

not sure since i don't frequently use Hotmail but i believe you can set up a IMAP account on the Q's Pocket Outlook.

I think I've finally "settled" on a solution for this! My Hotmail account bummed me out that I had to manually check for mail. All my others (Outlook,AOL,Yahoo) checked on there own as set up. Darn Hotmail wouldnt.
I'm still on a trial with PushEffect, but so far so good! Just set up your Hotmail account to SMS your phone when new mail arrives and PushEffect takes over. It works 90% of the time...I think Hotmail skips the SMS sometimes. But it also "Instant" sends any outgoing mail from your Q, without the dreaded going to send/receive. Does this for all email accounts.

It does the "chime" and "display" thing also!
Having unlimited text would be helpful also!

Hotmail just plain ticks me off....for the life of me I couldn't remove my account from the Q's Pocket MSN and re-add (if you will), so as I could set the account to check every 15min, hour, etc..Instantly never worked.

Tried Windows Live, no luck. Flexmail, on its own added it but way to buggy. Even tried Profimail, couldn't configure Hotmail.

It's probably me, but I just couldn't find a way to get Hotmail real time.

PushEffect is the closest I've gotten. I'd get my AOL and Yahoo too but the freebies dont allow SMS forwarding. Side note: Yahoo mail seems to come almost real time with Yahoo! Go installed, probably a fluke though!

If nothing else, PushEffect sends all my mail out when I hit send. Thats a bonus! Plus the "new mail" popup is kinda cool too.

I almost forgot another cool deal with PushEffect..in my case only hotmail can SMS alert me, but when it does it also checks my other email providers for mail, free of charge! LOL! Yeah, simple pleasures!!

if Hotmail has IMAP servers like we can use for Yahoo, i might for the heck of it try this out see if i can get it to work.
