Default changing mp3 into ringtones

How are you doing? I have the Verizon Q phone and I noticed that the songs that I loaded onto my phone can't be used as ringtones. Is there a software out there that I can use to do this? If anyone knows please help me out.

Thanks

I use Audacity. I use this program to clip a song down to about 30 seconds. I can use any part of the song I want. Works out great! You can find it if you google it. There are others I am sure that work as well.

As far as "changing mp3 to ringtones" the Q supports the use of mp3's as ringtones, so there is no need to change the file format.

However, I use Audacity to isolate exactly what I what for the tone itself. Try and keep the songs down under 1 MB, otherwise the Q has a hard time getting them to stream quickly.

Where are your trying to store the mp3 files? That may be part of the problem. Also are they in mp3 format? or something else?

All of my MP3's are stored on my minisd card and I have no problem using any of them for ringtones. However when I transfered them directly to the phone in the same folder as all other factory ringers, they don't play. I just leave mine on my minisd card.

Ok I used Audacity to transfer song but where do I store the song when I do this so it will work correctly?

another bump for Audacity. Also, to keep file sizes down (ie, maximize # of mp3's on your card / phone to be used as ringtones) make sure your mp3 clips are no longer than 30 seconds. After roughly 30 seconds of ringing, your phone goes to voice mail anyways.

Fool around with bitrate also until you get the sound quality you can live with on your Q. The Q's speakers are rather "tinny" and not exactly studio quality, so you don't really need CD quality / near CD quality bitrate mp3's.
