Default Auto-Updating RSS Apps...

Hey all,

I think it's a good time to revisit this...

I have been using NewsBreak for an RSS reader, and it's great... The main feature that I love it the auto-update option - this will download full articles and pictures automatically...

Recently, i found out about Spb Insight which has a MUCH better interface than NewsBreak - but surprisingly, DOES NOT auto update unless you are using WiFi, or docked in the cradle... How crippling is that? I mean, that like buying a Corvette that can only drive at night... Weird!

Anyone know of any decent RSS readers that AUTO update on the Q? I Hope this helps others as well...

Thanks,

Matt!

Tree,

Thanks - I'll check it out...

I love the Insight reader, because it assigns icons to each channel according to the images within - pretty neat.

I was hoping there was an update.exe or something that I could set to auto run once an hour using a scheduler program, but no such luck..

I'll check your idea out...

Thanks again,

Matt!

I do like Spb...I use their GPRS data monitor. And the icon thing does does look cool! $20 bucks...I'll stick with free!!

Viigo, does have the option for Auto Update Feeds. It can be set for 100-1000 articles every 1-24 hours. But your point..not sure if it updates over EVDO also.

Yep...

Viigo does auto update over EVDO-- and it is pretty damn sweet!

One tip though... I noticed that the the feeds were in a "desktop" mode, so i had to constantly scroll to read everything -- then i noticed how the window resembled PIE... SOOoo, i went into PIE and changed it to "one column" and bingo! Problem solved... Could get annoying if i change that a lot -- but no biggie...

**EDIT** Uh-oh... It looks like Viigo doesn't have the option to store on teh SD card... Even if it's installed there... That's not too hot!

Thanks,

Matt!

I have SPB Insight, but I have a PPC. Mine updates automatically. I think if you dont check the WiFi only box, it will update off your phones data signal.

Shaun...

Are there options to set the auto-update time interval in your version?

Thanks,

Matt!

Hehe... I am still here.. I had trial for work, so there was a lot of prep -- and work has been extra busy otherwise as well....

Plus, my wife and I bought each other a Wii for Christmas, and already opened it... So I have been scrounging around the Wii forums...

We are NOT gamers at ALL, but this Wii kicks ass!!!!

I have also been trying to ween off the computer a bit too... I don't want to be "that guy!"

I will be back soon -- :o)

Thanks for thinking of me...

Matt!
