Default A few questions if I may?

Hello all.... I'm new to the Q Forum, so let me say hello and what a great forum this is. I'm new to "smartphones" and in the past have had nothing more high tech than a color display on my nextel phone.

I have been checking out many of the forum topics as well as some searches for detailed info. I had some lingering questions so I thought you all may have the answers or some links to more info.

1. How many apps can the Motto Q normally run(not neccisarally at once) before it will begin to suffer any performance issues? Basically I'm wondering if I should limit the number of installed/running apps to get the best performance from mu Q?

Right now I'm running Facade, Skype Mobile, X Agenda, Qcaps, Flash Format, & KAV Mobile(Plus the included apps that came with the Q).

2. I've tried Skype Mobile with a test call and it worked out fine. I am curious about hearing from people who use it a lot. Hows the call clarity, do you run into excessive charges with your provider, ect). I have Sprint with the unlimited data package. Its seems weird to pay for a cell call & use my Skype minutes as well? Also, have any of you heard of/or run iScoot for Skype? If so how do you like the app?

3. Opera Mobile? I tried to run it, but could not figure out how to "work the browser functions". I tried downloading some apps from the Q software page and they would not load. Tried with IE and everything was fine. So basically wondering how you all feel about O Mobile and also O mini? I can't wait till FireFox & Thunderbird come out with Mobile versions!

4. I want to buy a case/holder for my Q. Any suggestions upfront so I don't end up trying/buying several before I find the perfect fit? I have an extended batt on order so I need something that is compatible with that. Ohh.. and has anyone tried the screen covers from the Q store? The ones that cover the screen and improve its visual characteristics?

Linky...

Ok.. Thanks for any info, answers, or links! And have a great weekend all!

Yeah... just tuesday, but for me its Saturday(On my work Schedual) so its just a habit. I work the grave yard shift Friday-monday. Anywho....... Thanks for the reply/info! Later..

Actually, let me just clarify what I'm asking. I'm thinking of my Q as a mini computer. It has a proccessor, harddrive, RAM, storage(Micro SD), & running Windows M 5.0. I suppose I am thinking it is like my lap top, were if I have too many apps running it hinders performance of the RAM and proccessor. Is that the correct way to look at the Q?

have mercy with us for who it is really tuesday :}

the Q is sort of a mini computer... but i believe that running programs are/can be pushed out of memory when another program demands memory.. i think this is how it is :}

not really... most 3rd party software has an exit, most applications that came with the Q reside "active" (you can see them in the Task Manager), and when you would open them again it actually opens the "active" one still in memory.

OK.. So here's another question. Is "Killing"(In task manager) the equivilent of shutting them down or the same as "end program" in Windows XP Task Manager? Generally in XP I would shut the program down via "exit" or "shut down". If it was unresponsive I would resort to the Task manager option.

For example, I don't see or am offered an option to shut down IE or many of the other apps. Even stuff like "pics& videos stays running if I don't kill it in TM(Q TM).

it closes the program
there is no other way to close them (the ones that dont have exit options)
so i guess you could call it both...i wont hurt the program by doing it

and for the record... some Q owners obsessively kill running tasks, some still think that it saves battery life if you keep killing tasks, i never saw clear proof of it and i for am not somebody who kills tasks.

every now & then i check what's running and most often i exit without killing any..

OK.. T was thinking that the Q was like my Laptop. That if I didn't monitor/administer apps that CPU & RAM would suffer.

So does using the (Q) task manger effect the program/app?

This whole Q "thing" is morework than my Insperon...lol
