Default MotoQ Device Emulation

First of allI am not a software developer or programmer at all! but i stumbled upon the Microsoft (standalone) Device Emulator and was wondering... is it possible to install/use this tool with the MotoQ skins to essentially create a virtual clone of my MotoQ to demo trial software, settings and regedits before acctually loading or changing these types of things on the on the real thing? It appears to me that that is exactly what developers must do so why couldn't I. If it is possible what exactly do i need to do this for a Verizon MotoQ-Black?

yes.

Install visual studio, then install the smartphone emulator that is horizontal form factor, then download the motorola q plugin from motodev (with a free registration) then set it up right by following the instructions in the second post of this page:

then you can start the emulator from visual studio. It basically is a new Q on your desktop. Not sure how to install apps to it or what not...

It is pretty neat though.

Thanks for the info... I researched and downloaded a bunch of microsoft developers tools and have determined this is way "over my head"

I think the idea of creating a Q clone on the PC for testing and qweeking before actually committing would be great, and i think with these tools it may be possible but it appears way to complicated for non-programer/developer like me...

Maybe someday when my Adult-ADD is more cooperative
