Default Can we get text in other languages from outlook?

I recently got a Q for work and I have a question. I receive email from Japan, frequently and read (and reply to) the email from my work in Japanese. I am not so concerned with emailing back in Japanese from the Q, but I would like the ability to read the email in case it is important, when I am away from work. Is there some 3rd party software or an update for windows mobile to have the ability to read the email in foreign characters? I just see boxes and $ signs and similar nonsense characters.

Thank you.

Gregg

Has anyone figured out how to read Japanese (or other foreign-language) email from outlook?

Anyone have any ideas on how to have the capability to read Japanese (or other) languages on the Q's outlook?

Well, I'm sure they sell Windows Mobile Smartphones in Japan, so the software is out there. But, finding it might take some doing. I've seen software that allows you to use non-English alphabets on smartphones on Handang, so you might want to start there.

I have no idea about outlook.

if you can find the font for jap, you can do it.

I did the following for chinese lang support. (just replace the sunglobe.ttf to some jap font file)

Quote:
  1. Copy sunglobe.ttf to your WM6 "\Windows" directory
  2. Create four String registry entry under key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\Sy stemLink"
    "Times New Roman"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun" "Arial"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
    "Courier New"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun" "Tahoma"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
  3. Now is final step, reset your PPC. However don't do this immediately, because for some reason, WM6 MAY NOT write your registry changes to database immediately. In my case, I will try to change the Ringtone sound and play a while to give time my PPC save the changes
  4. After reset, you should able watch chinese text on rock stable english platform.

I tried doing what you said, but my Q9c does not have a Fontlink folder under Microsoft. Is there anywhere I could look for such a folder?

Actually neither does mine.
But since I installed Chinese support, it appears. so, I think you may create it by yourself.

i attached a file. you can try to edit it and add jap font. then tell us whether it works.
Attached Files
File Type: txt FontLink.reg.txt (802 Bytes, 3 views)
