Question Wallpaper/Home Screen Questions

Hi, guys. I'm new to this forum and a brand new Moto Q user. I have a couple quick questions. Can someone tell me the dimensions for making your own wallpaper? What size should the image be? Also, how complicated is it to make your own home screens? I used to own a Blackberry..and making my own themes was fairly easy once I had the right software. What would I need to start making home screens? Thank you in advance for any info!

The background image is 320*213. The real screen is 320*240, but you have to substract 27 px for the softkeys => 320*213 left.

There are two ways of starting with WM homescreens ... Either use "Homescreen Designer's", or do it on your own, by learning/understanding xml.

Check this post for some guidelines:

There are links to tutorials but also links to "Homescreen Designer's".

IMO, those HS Designers are sh*t. You get better outcomes by doing it on your own.

PS: Welcome on EQ ;)

I'll vote with Prosper. Most of the homescreen software that is free or cheap, is crap. They'll give you a homescreen design, but anything beyond that, needs to be hand done. They do an adequate job of producing a homescreen but never a good or even decent screen will come from it. Using it to choose a color or a "nearly there" design is workable.

I do all mine by handcoding the Xml and using a graphic program to work the image.

i agree with the 2 amazing home screen designers that posted before me.. nothing beats the manual creation of a home screen..
