no sarcasm,i genuinely appreciate your help. i still wasn't able to fix the problem because i'm not able to make any changes to homescreen.xml, but really thanks.

copy the file to your pc.. make a copy/backup, start messing around in it, copy back to Q and see if it works. if all else fails email the .xml and i will take a look. (+ the one that works so i can compare)
