People aren't voting based on overall design (layout/image), they are voting for what they can put on there phone, which is good and all, but what about the people that don't have Facade to put in the home screen? I will probably still join in on the next one, as I had picked the theme, but maybe not more after that because I can just fill requests, and give the people what they want, with what they want on it.

I agree w/Kayla in many of her points. When I was starting out, I didn't want to compete w/Eko, cuz she would put mine to shame. Which is why, I tried to excuse my screens from contention, this time.
Scott was approached by a member to do just what Kayla said in regards to PMing him w/ all the screens, which he kindly stated that his inbox was too full. I agreed w/him and we went forward. So, to stop designers from jumping ship from the theme idea, I am taking myself out of the competition. I will still submit screens but they will not be part of the voting. I was put in charge by Scott to keep him aware of who's turn it was to make up the theme for that particular time. If everyone agrees, since I will NOT
be in the competition, they can PM me their screens & I will NOT post them until the week is over. Then I can post all of them @ once, & then ask Scott to put the poll up for us. Lets hear some feedback, cuz I would like to c this theme idea take off. It was originally Der Alta's idea, & he was kind of my mentor.

no doc!! theres no reason for you to exit this competition.. first of all you have been doing this longer than any of us have. you should be expected to win for that simple reason.. you deserve it.. I myself have only been doing this for what 2 months?? I don't expect to win anything.. now maybe after I've been here making HS for 6 months or a year then yeah I might expect to win a competition! noone should be getting mad that they didn't get any votes or win anything.. we all know the time and effort we all put into doing this.. I mean look at my screens. thatis the absolute best job I could do and I've only got one vote but that don't bother me cuz I know how hard I worked on it..and plus YOU are my mentor!!

i have stayed out of this.. Scott did a good job together w/ members to get this theme thing going again while it had to "resesitated" a few times in recent history... thanks Scott & helpers.

now why & how this became a competition i don't know.. but i don't like the idea of designers compete, and never liked the idea, but as said it was/is not up to me.

besides all this... it seems like the designers have their hands full with all the user requests, the last thing they need in my opinion is more pressure.

SO you guys dont want a competition anymore??? What rb said is true but users arent obligated to submit screens here....

and docmac dont drop out of competitions!!!

i don't remember BUT, it's been from what i see like this.. there was an idea, most were cool with it and we did it.. then the motivation was lacking so we -mod squad- suggested to quit.. then another idea was born, we did that.. same thing happened, and it looks like that keeps happening..

Thank you both for your support!! It truly means alot! I just want this thing to fly, so this is the only way that I could think of to make it a more fair playing field. (more fair??? is that even good english??) Like I said, I'm more than willing to submit HS's for each theme, I just thought that If I jump out of the voting process, people will feel better about posting their personal screens. n99 is right, they were ready to kill this, when alot of HS designers went and convinced him to give it 1 more shot. Well here is the shot, and some are already contemplating NOT making anymore. Thats the last thing that I want to happen. So, to all members that are interested in seeing this continue: Post your thoughts to these questions:
1) Keep theme going and lose the voting process
2) Keep theme going and keep the voting process
3) Keep theme going and after someone wins the current contest, they are not allowed to be considered for the next Theme vote, but would be for the following.
4) Keep theme going and keep all HS designers in contention for the competition, regardless of outcome of the last theme.
5) Let the theme of the Bi-weekly DIE!!

Also, would u like the screens that are developed be kept secret until the 1st day of voting by PMing them to me, or some other non-partial 3rd party? On the 1st day of voting, they would all be posted at once for everyone to vote on.
And lastly, would everyone want the HS's to be listed anonymously, so that people can vote on just the design & layout, without knowing who they came from. (To try to take the "Popularity Vote", which Kayla hinted at, out of the voting process).

OK, I lied, 1 more: Do we want to make a set of rules to follow, as to what can be included in the HS. i.e. Facade, Fizz, Pocketweather, or just plain plugins????

Whew, I know that is alot of questions to answer, but if we want to keep this thing going, I want everyone who is competing to be on the same page!

Just drop a thread, (We really don't need for the mods to set up a poll, do we??) and state your preferences. At the end of this week's voting we (RB,n99, & myself-since Im the one fighting to save this) will sort out the majority of comments, and go with that. If u decide after that u dont want to participate, Im sorry to hear that. If u decide to join in still, I couldn't be happier. However, if we don't see the participation that we saw in this current theme, then I personally will ask Scott to kill this idea. Also, if we dont at least get the same people to comment on this long winded rant, I will ask him to trash it. So Lets hear what u think!!!!

i like those ideas so something like this would be cool to me ( imo) like you said no one sees the screens until its time/when it is time its anonymous and then people vote f or the one they like then whoever s homescreen wins you reveal the name

2) taking names off of HS designers themes wont do any good.. Everyone has theyre own "style" and people will know who made it regardless.. Unless its a newbie..

3) No i dont think you should limit anything to just "plain" HS's. I think facade, fizz and whatever are fine
and
4) PM all HS's to someone who can post them on the last day... That way they are all revealed at the same time.. BUT with the creators names on them
