Default Question about making homescreens

I was looking at all the homescreens and a lot of them i seen looked really nice. I want to know what program(s) i need to start making my own homescreens

You need an image editor (I use photoshop, Gimp is free I believe and have heard its good) and some sort of text editor. (I use notepad)

I believe there's a tutorial sticky in the homescreen sub-forum. A good place to start would be mad beetle. It can get you most of the way to a good homescreen. Once you get better with xml you could use notepad (or I believe eko uses visual studio)

read through this post, there is software but the great ones just use Notepad, any plain Jane ascii editor will work..

ps. when it comes to a graphic app... i would suggest Paint.NET, free and kinda PhotoShop a like..

yeah thats how gimp is as well, Ive never heard of paint.net but do know people who use GIMP and it is basically a open source photoshop either way photoshop reigns supreme

Well i tried with mad beetle and gimp and its just too hard to make it look like the ones i have seen so i guess im just gonna have stick with making request but thanks for the info
