Default problem with email

Hi.. I am a relatively new user. To make a long story short I had to reset my phone . After I did that I reconfigured all my email addresses and all seemed fine. However my bluetooth wasn't working. So I updated the software and that works fine too. But after doing the software upgrade I lost the email account configurations again. No big deal. But when I go to add them again I get a message saying "that name is already assigned to another account. Enter a unique name and try again." It's almost like the accounts are still there.. I just don't see them under messaging.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Yes I updated the Motorola Q software. I got around the problem by just using a slightly different account name... so if my account had been called "Rogers" I just changed it to "Rogers Email". Now when I go into messaging the account Rogers Email shows up and all works fine. But that means that somewhere my old account of "ROGERS" is still defined. I just can't see it !

Did you restore the Q from a backup? When I updated to MOL3, I saw that problem, too, and I think it was after I used Sprite to restore from a backup.

I eventually just did a Master Reset and reinstalled everything. Despite what Sprite advertises, I've found out the hard way that you can't restore after an OS update.

Hmm... but if I do a Master Reset won't that take me back to the level of software that was shipped with the phone originally? I thought that was my original problem in that after a Master Reset my Bluetooth wouldn't pair with the device. So that's why I upgraded the software. I could probably do a Master Reset .. do the software upgrade and then reconfigure my email .. that would probably clear everything but I seem to have everything working now... It was more one of those "wow this is wierd"

Thanks to all for the assistance.

No, OS updates aren't undone by a Master Reset. That's why they require special installers to load them.
