I hate the IconBar

I hate the Icon Bar. There, I said it, and I feel better.

Let me list the reasons why. You have two useful characteristics. You display my signal Strength, and if I'm charging or battery strength. A third useful (but not very) is notification if I'm on EVDO or not.

Other than that, I could care less about you.

What I'd really love to find/make is a plugin that does the Signal Strength and Battery strength, along with my email/sms/voicemail. Nothing extravagent just something that does more on one line, than what the Iconbar does now.

Someone's bound to mention "Orange", but that is overkill, and it leaves the full Iconbar functionality. Guess I'll have to learn how to write my own plugins.

Anytime Der Alta wants to vent about the potential beauty and grace of a Home Screen & it's niddly bits, I'm one to gather 'round and listen....

anyway... i kinda like the icon-bar, and find it quite useful to for example put the clock which frees up some valuable real estate on the screen.

Doesn't the iconbar show SMS/eMail/Voicemail? At least it shows SMS.

Check out phoneAlarm for a nice solution. You can use both graphics and text counters for SMS / eMail / Voicemail / and either text or graphic for signal and battery *.
