I just liked the speed of the F4U. The thing was just flat out fast. Most fighter pilots want speed over all other capabilities.Toward the end of the war when the japs knew it was over the Americans used the F4Us to chase down kamikases because it was fast enough to catch -and shoot down- planes that were in a suicide dive.

Freaking impressive speed, and control...

I have some work to get done tonight, but later I'll mess with a screen based on some of the templates I have.

Yea, I am somewhat of a ww2 nut. At the local CAF (Confederate Air Force) fly in this summer they are bringing in a B-17. My grandpa worked as a mechanic for the Flying tigers in china for awhile, then he enlisted and was in the Mars Task Force.

Yep, CAF is pretty cool stuff. I just respect the guys that had to fly these things back in the day. They didn't have computers to control all of the aspects. I'm not anti-computer, but these guys were flying planes with a stick, rudder, and throttle. I've met lots of guys that flew the F4U and they swear by them (and sometimes at them).
