Default Home Screen Preview?

When editing a home screen, is there any program that will let you preview what it will look like, versus actually transferring it to the phone and installing it, and THEN seeing what it looks like? I am nervous but willing to try making my own but I foresee having to install/uninstall it a lot until I get it right. I have it all sketched out how I want it, I just have to bite the bullet and try it. Many years ago I worked with a scientific publishing program called TeX which seems similar to the xml, but there was a way to 'run' it and see the final version, so I could make corrections as needed along the way. Just wondering if there's something like that for this.

but it doesnt work with facade and fizz so that stuff you have to know what your doing...

Default Home Screen Editors

Here's my current list of Home screen editors. Note that while they can simplify the task of making basic Home screens, they probably won't be able to help with fancier Home screens that use non-standard plug-ins.
  1. MadBeetle Home Screen Builder -- Runs on your PC (free).
  2. Omega One 1-HomeEdit -- Runs on your Q.
  3. Ruttensoft Homescreen Designer -- Runs on your PC.
  4. V2R Home Screen Editor -- Runs on your Q.

UMMM Ok is it just me or is the Ruttensoft Homescreen Designer not able to download, from anywhere. I've done searches and all that and they all lead me back to that damn page where I can't do anything .

I can't say whether it's just you, but I can download it.

Click on the Smartphone.net link on the page and you'll see a Download button. (Clicking the Handango button probably does the same thing.)
