Yes, none of the 3 "Windows" home screens have the Get Express Mail nag, but I prefer the clean look of the ATT and Smartphone screens.

I like the Smartphone and AT&T layouts, except for the "Get Express Mail" nag on each of those.

I can only find the XML files for the 3 Windows Home screens, could it be that the AT&T and Smartphone phone screen layouts are embedded somewhere other than an XML file?
Thanks,
Bob
No, they are there in XML files. When I hookup my Q via ActiveSync I go into Explore and first uncheck "hide system files" and "hide extensions" that way I'm looking at everything and in the proper extension.

Also, they should be in the Application Date/Home folder I believe.

Default Smartphone Home Screen

Maria, I think this could be part of the code I need to edit, and I included a screenshot as well.

CLSID for Xpressmail:

Just remove that one entry and it should be gone.

Thanks for this thread.. helped me too. Was actually pretty simple. I just:

- Went to Application Data\Home
- unchecked hide system/hidden files
- sent the cingular.home.xml file to myself in email
- save the file to my desktop
- opened the file and took out the "getmail" line (w/the specified CLSID)
- renamed the <title lang="0x0409">Smartphone</title> to <title lang="0x0409">SmartphoneMod</title>
- renamed the file to smartmod.home.xml (so you don't have to fight replacing existing files)
- emailed the file back to myself
- checked mail on my Q
- saved the file to my storage card
- moved from my storage card into application data\home
- went to settings > Home Screen and found it!

Was really easy!

Eh.. I've been lurking for a bit . I actually was looking here to get info on the Q because I was going to choose between the Q9h or BJ II (originally went for the Q but had 30 days to change my mind). I was kind of on the edge either way, but the more I used the Q the more I liked it!

I love the fact that you can do all sorts of customizable stuff to it like in this post (not like you couldn't do that to the BJII... but it's cool nonetheless).

And I like how active this community is. Shows me that I'm more likely to get the answers I need in the future!

The only thing I don't like about the Motorola Q h are the very sensitive buttons on the side, everytime I grab the phone, I am grabbing these buttons which launch apps, or changes sound volume and even when the phone is in my holster, every time it bumps up against the side of the holster it is selecting and launching stuff. I always have to keep keylock on, which is a pain in the butt. Other than that, the phone has behaved itself well.

Hi all...this is my first post. I'm trying to get rid of that "Get Xpress Mail" link too but having problems.
I have a Moto Q9h and I have unchecked "hide system files" and "hide extensions" and copied the 3 xml files (full.home.xml, simple.home.xml, and nomru.home.xml) but I do not see anywhere that says "getmail" or anything like that when I click edit. Could it be listed under something else? Something has to be there or the link wouldn't be on the screen. This is driving me crazy.
