I hate that they stopped doing that. Apparently the companies throw the recovery disk on the HDD for use, rather than a disk. It's annoying.

They assured me there are restore discs for both Windows XP Pro and Vista Business. We just bought a Dell desktop for the office, also with the XP downgrade (due to our ancient printer), and it came with both discs.

If only it was that easy! I have the office discs, and I tried installing them to the home pc, which had a major meltdown. It worked for 30 days, then I neede to register the Windows...well...duh!! I now have a paperweight on the floor. Tried installing Ubuntu, but it gets 99% done, then tells me it doesn't work.

Walmart has an e-machine (same brand as current pc) on sale for $298.00 with Windows XP, but I'm not sure I want anothe e-machine! Dell desktops aren't too expensive, so I may go that route...
