Reading man upgraded to fair condition after fall from moving vehicle
From our news staff
Reading, PA - A Reading man was upgraded to fair condition in Reading Hospital on Saturday, a day after he was involved in a bizarre crash on the West Shore Bypass.
West Reading police said the 38-year-old man was heading west at about 55 mph when he climbed out the driver’s side window of his minivan, stood on the roof and rode the vehicle until it crashed and catapulted him into woods along the highway Friday at 3 p.m.
The man then took off his clothes and ran naked for several hundred yards down the highway, all while bleeding from a foot-long gash in his side, witnesses said.
Police used three separate jolts from a Taser as well as pepper spray in an attempt to subdue the man. They eventually tackled him, police said.
The man’s name is being withheld by the Reading Eagle because he has not been charged.
West Reading police could not be reached Saturday for further information.
(AP) A "Goldilocks" was found sleeping in a Chehalis home. Deputy Police Chief Randy Kaut said when the family woke up Wednesday they found an 18-year-old stranger asleep in a bed.
When they awoke the woman she said a friend named Jeremy had dropped her off and told her it would be OK to sleep there. While that was just right for her it was more than the family could bear. They don't know anyone named Jeremy.
There was nothing taken from the home _ no missing porridge. Police gave the Olympia woman a ticket for trespassing.
